To replace Aardsma on the active roster, righthanded pitcher David Pauley (#62) has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket of the International League and joins the club today in
The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Theo Epstein.
Pauley is 14-4 with a 3.55 ERA in 25 starts with the PawSox this season. He is tied for International League lead in wins, has the 7th lowest ERA, is tied for 7th in starts and is 8th in innings pitched (147.0). The righthander d efeated
This is Pauley’s 3rd stint with the Red Sox this season. He had no decision in a spot start on April 22 vs. the Los Angeles Angels (4.1 IP/7 H/5 R-ER) and was also with the club for one day on August 13 but did not pitch.
Pauley was 0-2, 7.88 in 3 starts with the Red Sox in 2006, including a no decision in major league debut at Toronto on May 31 (4.1 IP/11 H/6 R-ER).
Aardsma was previously on the disabled list with the same injury from July 19-August 8. He is 3-2 with a 4.19 ERA in 42 games with
