Trenton Thunder Infielder Jorge Vazquez Placed on DL

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that INF Jorge Vazquez has been placed on the Disabled List. Also, RHP Ivan Nova has been placed on the Temporary Inactive List retroactive to May 31st, and OF Seth Fortenberry has been transferred to Trenton from Staten Island (SS). Are You an Insider Yet?
Vazquez was batting .294 with seven home runs and 33 RBI in 33 games for Trenton. He is tied for ninth in the Eastern League in home runs, and is tied for eighth in RBI. The native of Culiacan, Mexico previously spent 10 seasons with the Mexican League, and had a career batting average of .321 in 627 games with 151 home runs and 491 RBI. Vazquez was signed by the Yankees as a free agent on December 7, 2008.
Nova is 4-3 with a 3.26 ERA in eight starts for Trenton this season. In 2008 the San Cristobal, Dominican Republic Native went 8-13 with a 4.36 ERA in 26 appearances for Tampa. Nova was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2004.
Fortenberry has appeared in 35 games for the Thunder this season, and has a .150 BA with seven RBI. He was transferred to the roster of the Staten Island Yankees on May 23rd. The native of Waco, TX was drafted by the Yankees in the 11th round of the 2006 draft out of Baylor University.
