Nine More San Diego Padres Draftees Agree to Terms

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-SAN DIEGO– The San Diego Padres announced today that the club has agreed to terms with nine more players selected in Major League Baseball’s 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Vice President of Scouting & Player Development Grady Fuson and Director of Scouting Bill “Chief” Gayton made the announcement.

 

Included in today’s announcement is the club’s third-round selection, Jerry Sullivan out of Oral Roberts University.A right-handed pitcher, Sullivan went 8-3 with a 3.12 ERA (34 ER/98.0 IP) in 15 starts for the Golden Eagles in 2009.The 21-year-old struck out 116, averaging 10.65 per 9.0 IP while limiting opponents to a .253 clip.

 

In addition, the Padres agreed to terms with three other players who were selected in the first 10 rounds of the draft, including catcher Jason Hagerty, right-handed pitcher Miles Mikolas and left-handed pitcher Ryan Hinson.The club has now agreed to terms with 31 of their 50 picks and six of their top 10.
