Oakland Athletics Option RHP Jeff Gray to Sacramento River Cats

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated left-handed pitcher Dallas Braden from the bereavement list and optioned right-handed pitcher Jeff Gray to Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced today.

Braden was placed on the bereavement list on Monday and is 6-7 with a 3.13 ERA in 17 starts for the A’s this year. He is tied for sixth in the American League in losses but his ERA is seventh lowest in the circuit. Braden has received run support of one run or less in nine of his 17 starts this year and his season run support of 3.47 is fourth lowest in the AL.

Gray was recalled by the A’s on Wednesday for his third stint this year and made one appearance, retiring the side in order in the eighth inning last night. He has now retired all five batters he has faced in three games over three stints with Oakland. The 27-year old right-hander was 2-2 with a 1.99 ERA in 29 games with Sacramento and converted all 11 of his save opportunities. Opponents were batting .198 off him and he issued just six walks in 31.2 innings.
