Aaron Poreda and Cesar Ramos Recalled By San Diego Padres

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres announced today they have recalled left-handed pitchers Aaron Poreda and Cesar Ramos from Triple-A Portland. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.
Poreda, 22, made his Major League debut this year for the Chicago White Sox, going 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA (3 ER/11.0 IP) in 10 games. In 20 minor league games (14 starts) between the White Sox and Padres organizations, he is 5-7 with a 3.95 ERA (47 ER/107.0 IP). The 6-foot-5, 240-pound left-hander was selected in the first round (25th overall) in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft. He was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 1 Prospect in the White Sox organization entering the 2008 season and No. 3 prior to the 2009 campaign.

Ramos, 25, has made 21 appearances (18 starts) in the Padres minor league organization this year, going 6-7 with a 3.56 ERA (37 ER/93.2 IP) between Rookie-level Peoria, Single-A Lake Elsinore and Portland. Originally signed as a supplemental-round selection (35th overall) in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft out of Long Beach State University, Ramos has a career mark of 38-38 with a 4.12 ERA (278 ER/607.1 IP) in 115 minor league games (107 starts).
