TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Mike Lundin (lun-DEEN) from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today. Defenseman Matt Smaby was also recalled from his conditioning assignment.

Lundin, 6-foot-2, 197 pounds, has played in 106 career NHL games, all with Tampa Bay. He has recorded eight career assists. During his rookie season he represented the Lightning in the 2008 YoungStars Game held during All-Star Weekend at Philips Arena in Atlanta. He made his NHL debut on October 4, 2008 against New Jersey. Last season he played in 25 games with Tampa Bay, recording two assists. Lundin played his last NHL game on December 10, 2008. He also played in 51 games with the Admirals last season, leading all Norfolk defensemen in points with 29 and assists with 25.

A native of Burnsville, Minnesota, Lundin has played in 19 games with the Admirals this season, recording two goals and 11 points. He currently leads all Norfolk defensemen in goals, assists and points while ranking fifth on the team overall in points and tied for the lead in assists.

Lundin was drafted by the Lightning in the fourth round, 102nd overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Smaby, assigned to Norfolk for conditioning on November 16, played in two games with the Admirals during the assignment, recording three shots on goal.
