Shaun Heshka Recalled by Phoenix Coyotes from AHL San Antonio Rampage

Ontario, CA – The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that former defenseman Shaun Heshka has become the first former Salmon Kings player to participate in an NHL game after being recalled yesterday by the Phoenix Coyotes from the American Hockey League’s San Antonio Rampage.

Heshka saw 15:33 of action in Phoenix’s game tonight versus the Anaheim Ducks in California. He ended the night with no points, two shots, two minutes in penalties and a plus minus rating of -1.

The Melville, Saskatchewan native played three games with the Salmon Kings in the 2006-07 season where he tallied one assist and four minutes in penalties.

Between 2006-07 and 2008-09 Heshka dressed for 211 games with the Salmon Kings’ AHL affiliate in Manitoba scoring 62 points (14g-48a) while accumulating 98 penalty minutes.

The 6-1, 195 lb. Heshka was dealt from the Vancouver Canucks to the Phoenix Coyotes on June 27th of this year before being assigned by Phoenix to San Antonio. In 13 games this season with the Rampage Heshka has scored four points (2g-2a) and has served 18 minutes in penalties.

The 24-year-old is in his fourth professional season, where he has scored a total of 67 points (16g-51a) in 227 games with 120 minutes in penalties.

Heshka had a four year junior career split between the SJHL’s Melville Millionaires and WHL’s Everett Silvertips. In 257 career junior games he has 31 goals and 96 points for 127 points with 190 penalty minutes.
