Pensacola Pelicans Defeat Lincoln Saltdogs 5-2 - American Association

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Pensacola - The Pensacola Pelican’s solid pitching and timely hitting helped improve them to 3-1 tonight with a 5-2 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Pelican’s pitchers only allowed one earned run on six hits tonight accompanied by big homeruns off the bats off Brandon Sing and Cesar Aranguren.

The Saltdogs jumped out to an early lead as they scored one run in the top of the first inning. Johnny Kaplan led off the game with a double down the left field line. Kaplan stole third and scored on a throwing error by Pels catcher Dylan Parzyk.  This would turn out to be the Saltdogs only lead of the game.

Pensacola would respond in the bottom of the second when Billy Cox led off the inning with a four pitch leadoff walk. Third baseman, Cesar Aranguren came up and belted his first homerun of the season over the left field wall, giving the Pelicans a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Pelicans added two more. Rafael Alvarez singled through the right side with one out. Next batter Brandon Sing crushed a two run homerun into the left field party deck to extend the lead to three.

The Pelicans tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-2 ballgame.

Pelicans starting pitcher Joe Orgovan pitched a solid five innings, earning his first win of the season.  Carl Scheafer came on in relief to pitch three scoreless innings allowing only one hit.  Dustin Cameron closed the door on the Saltdogs, throwing a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season.
