MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - WINNIPEG, Mb. – The Kansas City T-Bones were unable to overcome a six-run Winnipeg fourth inning as they dropped the rubber match of a three-game set, 9-6, to the Goldeyes at Canwest Park this afternoon in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Kansas City plated their first two runs with two out in the second, the first coming on a solo home run from Craig Hurba against Ace Walker. After a double by Neb Brown, Steve Trout capped off the frame with an RBI single to give the T-Bones a 2-0 lead. Ken Harvey added two more tallies for Kansas City in the third with his 12^th home run of the season as the Goldeyes trailed by four after three frames. Hurba now has four hits in Winnipeg this season, all of which have been home runs.

Winnipeg scored six runs on seven hits and a wild pitch in a decisive fourth inning against Anthony Snow, sending 10 men to the plate as they took a 6-4 lead. Kevin West drove in the first two with his 18^th home run of the campaign before Antoin Gray added one with a single and Max Poulin drove in two with a double. The Goldeyes collected seven consecutive hits with one out in the frame, six of whom scored in the inning.

Chad Ehrnsberger and Gray each drove in runs with singles against Snow in the fifth inning as Winnipeg extended their lead to 8-4. Snow surrendered one more run in the contest on an RBI double by Fehlandt Lentini in the sixth. It was Lentini’s only hit in the three-game series.

Snow suffered the loss after allowing nine runs on 13 hits over five and one-thirds innings.

Walker gave way to Dustin Pease with two outs in the sixth. Pease surrendered an RBI single to Bo Hart before inducing a ground out to end the inning. Walker earned the victory after allowing five runs on 10 hits over five and two-thirds innings.

After a perfect seventh, Pease allowed the T-Bones to pull within three on an RBI double by Geoff McCallum. Brian Beuning entered for Winnipeg in the ninth and allowed two hits in a scoreless frame for his eighth save of the season.

Brady Martinez got five of the six batters he faced in relief of Snow, including four consecutive strikeouts to end his outing. He has now allowed just one unearned run over his last 19 and one-thirds innings, including 17 and one-thirds scoreless frames. Payton Tweddale threw a perfect eighth to close out the game for Kansas City.

The T-Bones get a travel day tomorrow before heading home for their last homestand of the regular season, beginning with a three-game set against the Joliet JackHammers on Tuesday. Joliet remains within three games of Kansas City for the fourth and final playoff spot. First pitch for Tuesday’s contest is set for 7:05.
