Camden Riversharks Take 5-1, Game 1 Win Over Long Island Ducks

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Central Islip, N.Y. – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks on Tuesday 5-1 in Game One of their best-of-three playoff series. The Riversharks lead the series 1-0 with Game Two and a potential Game Three to take place in Camden.

Former big leaguer Kevin Walker (1-0) allowed a run early, but settled in to throw seven solid innings, at one point retiring 11 straight. Walker departed with the lead, having given up seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Lance Davis (0-1) went five and two-thirds innings for the Ducks, allowing all four of his runs in the sixth inning. Ben Grezlovski held the Riversharks in check with two and one-third innings of relief, surrendering just one hit while striking out three.

Juan Francia drove in the Ducks only run with an RBI single in the second, part of a 2-for-4 night for the Ducks leadoff hitter. Four straight Camden batters struck in the sixth for RBI to overtake the Ducks and leapfrog to a 4-1 lead. Sheldon Fulse had the emphatic blow, a run-scoring double to left-center. Camden extended its lead to 5-1 on Shaun Boyd’s solo homer in the ninth inning.

The Ducks look to even up the series on Wednesday in Camden. Game Two of the Liberty Division Championship Series begins at 7:05 p.m. from Campbell’s Field.
