Friday, September 5, 2008 at 09:13AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – DURHAM, NC – The Can-Am League announced today that Worcester Tornadoes OF Scott Grimes was selected by the eight league field managers and media representatives as the 2008 Player of the Year.
Grimes had a tremendous 2008 campaign for the Tornadoes. The Kennett Square, PA resident hit .365 in 93 games with 21 home runs, 57 RBI, 133 hits and six triples. He had a slugging percentage of .626, along with 20 doubles, 87 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .442. Grimes finished first in the Can-Am League in triples, slugging percentage and runs scored, second in hits, on-base percentage, batting average and extra base hits and third in home runs.span class="full-image-float-right">
He was a Teamline Direct Batter of the Week Recipient (June 22) and the B45 June Batter of the Month.
The 24-year-old Grimes is in his fourth season of professional baseball. In 2005, he played with the Can-Am’s road team, the Grays. He was with the Sussex Skyhawks in 2006 and 2007.
Grimes is a graduate of Keystone College.
