MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -LITTLE FALLS, NJ--- The Tornadoes were shut out by a score of 2-0; the second time in as many nights they could only muster four hits against the now first place New Jersey Jackals.
Tonight it was another lefty AJ Wideman (2-0) who slowed the Tornadoes offense to a halt. Widemen only struck out one, but also allowed only three hits over seven innings of work to earn the win. Rusty Tucker (SV 6) got his 100th career win after working around an error and a walk in the ninth. Jackal manager Joe Calfapietra also recorded his 300th win at the helm of New Jersey this evening.
Zack Zuercher (1-2) was the tough luck loser tonight for Worcester. He matched Wideman’s seven innings, but a two out walk to Juan Tejeda in the bottom of the fourth came back to bite him when catcher Matt Lauderdale doubled to the right field wall thus driving in the eventual winning run.
Worcester offense left six men on base, four in scoring position, on this night and five times had the leadoff hitter in the inning on. The Tornado scoreless inning drought now stands at twenty; the longest such streak of the season.
Tomorrow at 7:05 Ryan Mitchell (1-0) will take the ball to try to salvage game three of this series against New Jersey righty Ted Serro (2-1).
