Worcester Tornadoes Lose 5-1 to Brockton Rox - Can-Am League

WORCESTER, MA---    Worcester’s struggles against left handed pitching continued tonight as Rox starter Craig Anderson (3-1) went the distance striking out seven en route to a 5-1 win.

Alex Pena (2-2) was greeted with four runs in the top of the first inning, an RBI single for Melvin Falu (14) followed by a three run jack from Keith Brachold (5) doing the damage. The fifth run closed the scoring in the top of the sixth also charged to Pena; Palmer Karr singled home Jud Thigpen. Thigpen, fresh off his first CanAm batter of the week honors of the season, had two hits in this ball game to celebrate.

The lone Worcester run was scored by Vinny Pennell when he singled, stole second on a botched pick-off, then advanced to second on a throwing error from newly acquired first baseman Clyde Williams, who was purchased by Brockton from New Hampshire earlier today. Chris Colabello (13) singled and drove in Pennell shortly after. Worcester stranded seven men on the base paths.
