American Association Recap for June 6th

Pensacola - Here is the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION RECAP for 6/6/09 :

Pensacola scored in five of the first six innings and cruised past Grand Prairie 8-0. 2B Antoin Gray and C Justin Humphries both homered for the Pelicans who out hit the Airhogs 13-5 in the contest. Humphries finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. Kyle Middleton pitched a superb game for Pensacola allowing just five hits in seven shutout innings while striking out seven. Pelicans 3B Dallas Christison went 3-for-4 with a run scored and drew a walk. SS Luis Gaunce had a good game too with two hits and two walks.

Ft. Worth 6, El Paso 5

Lee Gwaltney kept his record perfect as the Fort Worth Cats got past the El Paso Diablos 6-5.  Gwaltney allowed five earned runs on eight hits in seven innings while striking out six.  He got enough help from his offense, including a homerun from Cats 3B Michael Bell, and his bullpen to move to 4-0 on the season.  Cats reliever Alex Morales struck out the side in the eighth inning and Dustin Cameron shut the door in the ninth for his 10th save. El Paso CF Kennard Bibbs had a fine game for the Diablos as he went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.

Wichita 16, Lincoln 3

Wichita put up six runs in the fourth inning and six more in the sixth en route to a 16-3 defeat of Lincoln. The Wingnuts collected 17 hits in the contest and knocked out Saltdogs starter Brian Campbell after just 3 1/3 innings. Wichita DH Kelly Hunt had a monster game blasting two homeruns and driving in six. SS Josh Horn was just as good with four hits including a homer, three RBI and three runs scored. Two other Wingnuts had three-hit games. Adam Cowart pitched six innings and earned the victory to move to 1-1 on the year.

Sioux Falls 14, Shreveport-Bossier 3

Every Sioux Falls starter had a hit as the Canaries handled Shreveport- Bossier 14-3. Canaries starter Ben Moore went the distance allowing three earned runs on nine hits while striking out five. He improved his record to 2-3 with the victory. Leading 8-3 in the sixth inning, JD Reininger and Reggie Taylor each homered for Sioux Falls to put the game out of reach. Canaries LF Cory Harris had a big game as well with three hits and three RBI. Sioux Falls 2B Joe Anthonsen went 3-for-5 with a RBI and scored twice.

Sioux City vs. St. Paul   (Postponed – Rain)
@ St. Paul, MN
 
The scheduled game between Sioux City and St. Paul was postponed due to rain. The game will be played as part of a doubleheader beginning at 12:05pm Sunday, June 7th. Both games will be scheduled for seven innings.
