SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Ryan Fox homered to begin a six-run ninth inning for the Kansas City T-Bones (10-9) as they defeated the Schaumburg Flyers (12-7), 11-5, to snap the Flyers eight-game win streak tonight at Alexian Field.
 
Schaumburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Dustin Bolton in the first inning on RBI singles by Felix Jose and Jeff Dunbar.  Kansas City answered off Steve Shippey in their half of the second, tying the game with a solo home run by Craig Hurba and an RBI double from Mark Minicozzi.
 
Both teams added single tallies in the third inning.  Kansas City scored first when Neb Brown walked to begin the frame and later scored when Hurba grounded into a double play.  The Flyers brought the teams even again with an RBI single by Dunbar.
 
The T-Bones gained a 5-3 advantage in the fifth, plating their first run of the inning on an RBI double by Brown.  A groundout by Greg Jacobs pushed Brown across for a two-run Kansas City lead.
 
Shippey left after six innings having allowed five runs on five hits.  He did not factor into the decision.
 
Following Dunbar's single in the third, Bolton retired 14 of his next 15 batters before walking Vince Harrison with one out in the eighth.  Blair Johnson (1-1) entered for Kansas City and surrendered a single before striking out Dunbar for the second out of the frame.  The next batter, Jason Colson, doubled home both runners to tie the game at five.
 

Bolton allowed four runs on seven hits in his seven and one-thirds innings of work, but would not earn a decision.  Johnson earned the victory after giving up one run on two hits in his two-thirds of an inning.
 
Jim Popp (0-1) threw a perfect eighth inning for the Flyers before surrendering the home run to Fox in the ninth.  After walking Eric Scriven, Popp gave way to Garrett Rieck.  Brown sacrificed Scriven to second before Rieck walked two straight, one intentionally.  Hurba then opened the gates for Kansas City, driving in Scriven ahead of a two-run single by Jim Fasano.  Two batters later, Minicozzi drove in Hurba before Scriven capped off the frame with an RBI single of his own.  After the six-run outburst, the T-Bones held an 11-5 advantage.
 
Popp suffered the loss after surrendering two runs on two hits in one-plus innings.  Todd Moser faced the minimum in the bottom of the ninth to finish the game for Kansas City.
 
Chris Rhoads takes the mound for Kansas City tomorrow afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game set.  The Flyers have yet to announce their starter.  First pitch is set for 1:20.
