Wichita Wingnuts Capture 4-3 Come-From-Behind Win from Sioux City Explorers

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts resumed their winning ways with a 4-3 comeback win over the Sioux City Explorers on Thursday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Trailing 3-1 in the seventh Wichita exploded for three runs on six hits, sending eight men to the plate. Michael Thompson knocked in the first run with a double, but Patrick Brooks was thrown out at home for the second out of the inning. Sioux City pulled starter Nick Singleton, but reliever Ty Marotz had trouble getting the final out. Brenan Herrera singled home Thompson, and after a Josh Horn single, Nick Blasi doubled home the go-ahead run. Thompson, Herrera, Horn and Joe Muich each had two hits for the 'Nuts.
Starter Gabe Medina earned the win, pitching seven innings. Newcomer Julio Torres had an easy eighth in his pro debut, before Doug Hurn and Richard Salazar combined to get the final three outs, stranding the tying run on third. Wichita finished the first half of the season 9-1 versus Sioux City.
The Wingnuts, now 31-14, will finish the first half of the season with a three-game set at the Lincoln Saltdogs starting tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. The Wingnuts will start the second half of the season on Monday when they host the St. Paul Saints at 7:05 p.m.
