Long Island Ducks Set Attendance Mark In 12-5 Loss To Bridgeport Bluefish

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Central Islip, N.Y., July 3, 2009) – A past-capacity crowd of 7,308 were on hand Friday night at 6,002 seat Citibank Park, as the Long Island Ducks took on the Bridgeport Bluefish. The attendance figure set a new single-game record for the Ducks, breaking the previous mark of 7,284, which had been established on July 4, 2008. The Ducks, in their 10th Anniversary Season, accomplished the feat just one month after welcoming their 4-millionth fan faster than any team in North American sports history in a ballpark their size.

The holiday crowd witnessed a 12-5 Bluefish win over the Ducks courtesy mainly of a 10-run second inning, which saw Bridgeport bat around while hitting two grand slams in the same frame.

Offensive stars for Long Island included Ray Navarrete (solo home run), Lew Ford (solo home run) and Johnny Hernandez, who had three hits. Robert Paulk delivered five and one-third innings of scoreless baseball in relief of starter B.J. LaMura (5-5).

The Ducks and Bluefish continue their series on Saturday. Game time is 7:05 p.m., and the Citibank Park gates open at 6:05 p.m. Jake Dittler makes the start for Long Island against Bridgeport’s Corey Lee.
