Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 09:42AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com –
Hudson Valley - Cole McCurry gave up three runs over five innings and Eric Perlozzo collected three RBIs to lead the IronBirds to a 5-3 victory at Hudson Valley’s Dutchess Stadium on Friday night. The win was the fourth straight for Aberdeen (19-18), which improved to better than .500 for the first time since July 10, when the team was 12-11. The IronBirds also won a season-best four straight from July 6-10.
McCurry, who set a franchise record in his last start by picking up a win in his fourth consecutive outing, broke his own record and also set another on Thursday with his sixth consecutive pitching victory to improve to 6-0. The left-hander has also already matched the club record for wins in a season through just 37 team games.

The IronBirds loaded the bases with one out to begin the second inning before Lee Ellis plated Jedidiah Stephen with an RBI groundout to put Aberdeen up 1-0. Next up was Perlozzo, who gave the ’Birds some breathing room with a two-run double to left that brought home both Chad Durakis and Robbie Widlansky.Hudson Valley (18-19) responded with a run of its own in the bottom of the second when Jacob Jefferies tripled and scored on a groundout by Mike McKenna.
Aberdeen got that run back in the fourth, as Perlozzo collected his third RBI of the night with a line-drive single to right to score Widlansky.
The Renegades got as close as they would come in the bottom of the fourth when McCurry issued a bases-loaded walk to Kyeong Kang before Jeff Carroll lifted a sacrifice fly to right to drive in Jefferies and cut the lead to 4-3.
The IronBirds got an insurance run when T.J. Baxter doubled to lead off the sixth and scored on a single by Widlansky two batters later.
Newcomer Cory Doyne and Ryan O’Shea were stellar out of the Aberdeen bullpen, combining to allow just one hit in four scoreless innings of work to preserve the win.
Doyne, who began a Minor League rehab assignment with Aberdeen on Thursday, struck out the side in his only inning of work. O’Shea allowed a single in the ninth and issued one walk while striking out four in three frames to earn his first-career save.
Renegades starter Frank De Los Santos (3-4) allowed all five Aberdeen runs and all 10 hits in 6.2 innings to take the loss.
