Charlotte Knights Pound out 17 Hits in 15-4 Rout of the Buffalo Bisons

FORT MILL, S.C.  – July 25, 2008 – After being away for 11 days, the Charlotte Knights showed just how much they missed home. The Knights had a season 17 hits—four of them home runs—to defeat Buffalo 15-4. Knights shortstop Fernando Cortez went 2-4 with two home runs and four RBI on the night. Brad Eldred had a two-run shot of his own in the 7th, giving him 27 home runs on the season. Eldred leads the IL in RBI with 75.  

      Charlotte starter Lance Broadway (9-6, 4.48) picked up his ninth win of the season. Broadway struck out five Bisons and got all the run support he needed for the win.  

      Bryan Bullington (4-7, 5.90) took the loss for the Bisons.

      The Knights and Bisons continue their series on Saturday. Tomo Ohka (2-9, 4.41) takes the mound for Charlotte. Buffalo will start David Huff (2-3, 3.19). Game time is 7:15.
