Great Lakes Loons Finally Triumphant Over the Clinton LumberKings in 7-3 Victory

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com –Alfredo Silverio and Eduardo Perez each homered and drove home three runs, and the Great Lakes Loons finally solved the Clinton LumberKings, winning Friday night, 7-3.  The game was played in front of the second-largest regular-season crowd of the year at Dow Diamond, 5,628.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Loons and was the team’s first win over Clinton this year.

The Loons struck for three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Perez.  Silverio’s second inning homer gave the Loons a 4-0 advantage.

After Loons’ starter Bryan Morris departed, Blake Brannon entered in the sixth and the LumberKings struck for two runs and had the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with no outs.  But Brannon retired Davis Stoneburner, Engel Beltre and Matt Lawson to escape the jam.

Perez’s homer in the eighth inning gave the Loons a 6-3 lead and Silverio drove in a seventh run with a triple scoring Brandon Taylor.

Morris (2-4) recorded his second win with five innings, allowing one run.  Miguel Ramirez pitched a scoreless ninth for his 17th save of the year.
