High Desert Mavericks Capitalize on Lancaster JetHawks Miscues in 6-3 Win

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - LANCASTER , CA – The High Desert Mavericks did the little things Friday night. The Lancaster JetHawks did not. The Mavericks used stolen bases, wild pitches, and four JetHawks errors to defeat Lancaster 6-3 in the first game of a three-game series in front of 2,358 fans at Clear Channel Stadium.

It was a stolen base that set up the Mavericks run in the first inning. The JetHawks third error of the game came in the fourth inning and it set up two more High Desert runs as the Mavericks took their biggest lead of the game, 4-0.

Lancaster never was out of reach. Mike Jones blasted a home run to the 14 Freeway on ramp to get the JetHawks to within two runs. High Desert used a stolen base and a wild pitch to edge away again with a run in the fifth and an error gave them a run in the eighth. Luis Exposito’s RBI single brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning for Lancaster, but the Mavericks held on for the win.

Yamaico Navarro and Daniel Nava each had two hits for the JetHawks. While Jon Still scored a run, his career-best 11-game hitting streak came to an end.

The JetHawks continue a six-game homestand Saturday night against High Desert. Chris Province (5-2) starts for Lancaster while the Mavericks counter with Steve Uhlmansiek (2-3). The game starts at 7:00 PM.
