Kinston Indians Lose 5-4 to Wilmington Blue Rocks - Advanced A, Carolina League
Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 10:06AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com –
Kinston - The Kinston Indians made up a three-run deficit with four runs in the top ofthe ninth, but gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth to lose 5-4 to
the Wilmington Blue Rocks Friday night.
With the Blue Rocks up 3-0 in the top of the ninth, Wilmington closer Tyler
Chambliss walked three straight K-Tribe batters to load the bases.
Wilmington pitcher Aaron Hartsock came in and got a tailor-made double-play
ground ball that was misplayed by shortstop Chris McConnell to score the
first run for Kinston to make it 3-1. A pair of run-scoring singles through
the right side by Johnny Drennen and Beau Mills tied the score at three, and
Jared Goedert's sacrifice fly gave Kinston a 4-1 lead going to the bottom of
the ninth.

Josh Tomlin came in to pitch for Kinston in the bottom of the ninth, and
made a great play on a line drive back through the box for the first out. He
allowed a double to Brad Correll to the wall in center, and his pinch-runner
Anthony Seratelli came around to score the tying run on a Cody Strait
RBI-double. Strait advanced to third on a wild pitch, ball four to Kurt
Mertins, and Jeff Bianchi hit a sacrifice fly to plate Strait for the
winning run.
Kinston starter Shawn Nottingham pitched four and two-thirds innings,
picking up a no-decision allowing two runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
Sung-Wei Tseng pitched a scoreless inning and a third of relief, and Mike
Pontius's lone blemish was a solo homer by Wilmington's Correll. Josh Tomlin
falls to 8-5, with his first blown save of the season.
