Pulaski Mariners Double Up the Princeton Rays 4-2 - Box and Plays

PULASKI, Va.-  Mario Martinez’s two run home run in the eighth inning completed a Pulaski Mariner comeback against the Princeton Rays at Calfee Park on Sunday night 4-2.  The Mariners fell behind 2-0 in the first three innings but scored four unanswered runs to run their winning streak against Princeton t o eight straight in eight games.
 
Princeton (14-21) got a solo home run by Eli Sonoqui in the second inning followed by a RBI triple from Diogenes Luis in the third inning to build a 2-0 lead.  Pulaski (25-14) countered with a Martinez sacrifice fly in the fourth to cut the lead in half before Dwight Britton singled home Kris Sanchez in the seventh to tie the score, before Martinez connected in the eighth.
 
Phillip Roy picked up the victory for Pulaski in relief pitching the final two innings, while striking out four as three Mariner pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts.  Jamie Bagley suffered the loss for Princeton.
 
Pulaski and Princeton wrap up their three game series and season series with a game Monday night at Calfee, game time is 7:0020pm.  It will be Hokie Nation night at the ballpark, fans who wear their Hokie colors to the game will receive a discount off admission along with several giveaways from Virginia Tech.
