Beloit Snappers Defeat Great Lakes Loons 3-2 - A, Midwest League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com –

BELOIT, WI – Snappers’ right fielder Yangervis Solarte bounced a ground ball down the first base line with no outs in the bottom half of the 11th inning to drive home Estarlin de los Santos with the game-winning run to give Beloit a 3-2 victory over the Loons.  With the win, the Snappers complete a three-game series sweep over the Loons.

The Loons are now 2-10 in extra innings games and lose for the 30th time when leading.

With the game tied at two, de los Santos tripled over the head of Loons’ right fielder Jovanny Rosario to move into scoring position and eventually score the winning run.

The Loons scored first in the third, when Preston Mattingly collided with first baseman Juan Richardson in a rundown between third and home.  An interference was called and Mattingly was awarded home.

Beloit tied the game in the fifth on a solo home run by Greg Yersich, his second homer of the series.  Then in the seventh, the Snappers took a 2-1 lead on a solo homer by Mark Dolenc.

The Loons tied the score in the eighth.  Following back-to-back singles by Andrew Lambo and Eduardo Perez and a sac bunt by Alfredo Silverio, Kenley Jansen hit a ground ball to shortstop to score Lambo with the tying run.

Josh Lindblom started and pitched three scoreless innings in his fourth professional appearance.  Luis Ferreras debuted for the Loons and allowed one run in three innings.  Blake Brannon also threw three innings and also surrendered one run.  Miguel Ramirez (2-8) entered the game in the 10th and allowed the winning run to score in the 11th.
