MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - BINGHAMTON, N.Y.  Seven B-Mets notched multiple hits as the Binghamton Mets rolled an 8-4 win over the Reading Phillies at NYSEG Stadium on Wednesday.  The win snaps Binghamton’s four-game losing streak. 

      The Mets (64-61) batted around in the first inning, scoring four times.  Fernando Martinez led off the game with a single before Mike Carp singled with one out and Caleb Stewart walked to load the bases.  After Salomon Manriquez struck out, Shawn Bowman plated Martinez and Carp with a double.  Anderson Machado followed with a walk before Jose Coronado drove home Stewart and Bowman with a single. 

      Binghamton added to their lead in the fifth when Jonathan Malo, who began the inning reaching second on a single and error, scored with Mike Carp batting when Reading (49-74) starter Tyson Brummett misplayed a throw from first baseman Clay Harris.  Carp would later come home on an RBI single by Machado, giving Binghamton a 6-0 lead. 

      After the Phillies scored a run in the sixth on a two-out double by Jeremy Slayden, the Mets struck for two more in their half of the inning which began with three straight one-out singles by Fernando Martinez, Jonathan Malo, and Mike Carp.  Carp’s base knock scored Martinez, and after a walk to Caleb Stewart to load the bases, Manriquez brought home Malo with a sacrifice fly, providing the Mets an 8-1 advantage. 

   Jose Sanchez (12-6) pitched 6 2/3 strong innings to earn his second consecutive victory, while Reading’s Brummett (2-6) was hung with the loss after allowing six runs in 4 1/3 innings.  

      Thursday, the Binghamton Mets wrap up their season series with the Reading Phillies in the third game of a three game set.  Billy Wagner making a rehab appearance will start for Binghamton against Edgar Garcia (0-5, 9.41) of Reading.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast beginning at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF. 

Notes: Over the last 10 games, Binghamton starting pitching has a 2.57 ERA.  The Mets bullpen has a 6.75 ERA over that same span.  The Mets 14 hits are the most for Binghamton since July 31^st against Connecticut when they also rapped 14 base knocks.  With the win, Binghamton improved to 6-4 against Reading with just one game remaining against the Phillies, assuring themselves of a season series victory.  Earlier today, Binghamton’s Emmanuel Garcia, competing with Team Canada in the Beijing Olympics, went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs against China in the Canadians Olympic opener.
