Bowie Baysox Edge Trenton Thunder 2-1 - AA, Eastern League

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com –

Trenton, NJ - Bowie Starting pitcher Chris Tillman tossed six shutout innings to lead the Baysox past Trenton 2-1 on Thursday night at Waterfront Park. The Baysox swept the three-game series, and Trenton finished its eight-game homestand with a record of 3-5.

With the game scoreless in the fourth inning, Right Fielder Nolan Reimold was hit by a pitch to start the frame. After Catcher Matt Wieters was retired on a fly out, First baseman Ryan Finan singled to put runners at first and second base. Designated hitter Jeff Nettles reached on an infield single to load the bases with one out. Left fielder Mike Rodriguez struck out for the second out of the inning. But, third baseman Jonathan Tucker followed with a two-run single to give the Baysox a 2-0 lead. Trenton starting pitcher Eric Hacker (6-3) took the loss despite giving up just five hits and two runs in six innings. He struck out six and walked two. Trenton rallied in the seventh inning. With two outs, Catcher P.J. Pilittere singled. First baseman Cody Ehlers followed with a single to put runners at first and second base. Second Baseman Kevin Russo then drilled a single down into the left field corner to score Pilittere. Ehlers tried to score the tying run, but was thrown out at the plate.

Tillman pitched six shutout innings to earn his third consecutive victory. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter. Bowie reliever Julio Manon pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his 28th save of the season. His 28 saves is the most in the Eastern League. Trenton's bullpen combined to hurl three innings and struck out six. Trenton Center fielder Austin Jackson had two hits in the loss.
