Lancaster JetHawks Defeat Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 5-3

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com -

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Sean O’Sullivan came into the first inning of Friday’s game having not given up a run in 18 consecutive innings. Lancaster ended that streak in the first inning plating two runs on an RBI double by Mike Jones and an RBI single by Luis Exposito to take a 2-0 lead.

The Quakes answered in the second as Hank Conger hit his 8th home run of the season, a solo shot to cut the score to 2-1.

O’Sullivan bounced back and retired 13 of the next 14 batters before allowing a run in the 6th on another Mike Jones RBI double to make the score 3-1.

Rancho cut the deficit to just a run in the bottom of the sixth with two outs as Drew Toussaint tripled off the right field wall and scored on an RBI single by Efren Navarro to make the score 3-2.

Lancaster plated single runs in each of the next two innings as Yamaico Navarro singled home Kris Negron to make the score 4-3 after seven and added another run in the 8th on a Luis Exposito solo home run against reliever Bobby Cassevah to make the score 5-2.

The Quakes came back again in the 8th with Ryan Mount reaching on a two base error by left fielder Matt Sheely and scoring in an RBI single by Hank Conger to make the score 5-3. Rancho had runners on first and second with two outs, but PJ Phillips struck out to end the inning.

Jason Blackey came in to close it out for Lancaster and pitched a one hit ninth to send the Quakes to their 5th straight loss.

The Quakes will try to snap their five game skid Saturday night with right hander Jordon Towns on the mound against left hander Derrick Loop of the JetHawks. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
