Los Angeles Angels Minor League Report

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Los Angeles - Here’s a look at how the Angels’ farm system fared in yesterday’s action:

 

SALT LAKE BEES (Class AAA) - Pacific Coast League - Record 73-56, 1st, +5

The Salt Lake Bees managed just one hit in a 9-0 loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Colorado affiliate).  The Bees broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff single by 1B Corey Smith in the eighth inning.  Salt Lake received nine walks (including four issued to CF Brad Coon) but could not score, striking out nine times and hitting into four double plays.  RHP Nick Green (7-7) gave up five runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts in five innings.

ARKANSAS TRAVELERS (Class AA) Texas League -Record 21-35, 4th, -11 (1st Half 36-34, T1st)

The Arkansas Travelers gave up 15 hits in an 8-3 loss to the San Antonio Missions (San Diego affiliate).   RHP Dan Denham (9-10) got the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits in four innings.  2B Nate Sutton had two hits, including a triple, and a RBI.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA QUAKES (A) California League - Record 33-24, 1st, +0.5 (1st 30-40, 5th)

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, winners of nine of their last 10 games, pounded out 15 hits—including seven doubles—in a 10-6 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm (San Diego affiliate).  RF Drew Toussaint drove in six runs with a double and two singles.  DH Hank Conger also had three hits.  RHP Jordan Towns (1-3) got the win, giving up four runs on seven hits in five innings.

CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS (A) - Midwest League - Record 32-25, 2nd, -3.5 (1st Half 32-36, 5th)

After being held scoreless for four innings, the Cedar Rapids Kernels went on to score eight unanswered runs over the next four innings in an 8-1 win over the Beloit Snappers (Minnesota affiliate).  The Kernels collected 12 hits, including triples by 1B Gabe Jacobo and 3B Jay Brossman RHP Esmerlin Jimenez (6-7) pitched seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits and five walks with three strikeouts.

OREM OWLZ (Rookie) - Pioneer League - Record 16-5, 1st, +3 (1st Half 25-13, 1st)

The Orem Owlz’ franchise-record 14-game win streak was snapped in a 3-0 loss to the Missoula Osprey (Arizona affiliate).  The Owlz collected just two hits, singles by SS Darwin Perez and DH Luis Jimenez RHP Baron Short (3-3) went five innings in the loss, giving up two runs on three hits and four walks in five innings.

TEMPE ANGELS (Rookie) - Arizona League - Record 10-8, 3rd, -3.5 (1st Half 21-7, 1st)

The rookie-level Angels, winners of five straight game, had the day off Monday and tonight will host the Royals.

DSL ANGELS (Rookie) – Dominican Summer League - Record 40-24, 2nd, -4
