New Hampshire Fisher Cats Blank Binghamton Mets 2-0 - Eastern League

Binghamton, NY- Robert Ray scattered five hits over seven scoreless innings to become New Hampshire's first seven-game winner, and Ryan Patterson moved into a tie for the team lead by smashing his 17th home run as the Fisher Cats shut out the Binghamton Mets, 2-0, on Thursday night before a crowd of 4,345 at NYSEG Stadium
 
New Hampshire (56-76) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning when David Smith (1-for-3, 2 BB, RBI) hit a two-out, RBI single to left field off losing pitcher Mike Antonini, scoring Eric Nielsen (2-for-5, R), who reached on a single.
 
Ryan Patterson (2-for-4, HR, RBI) belted Antonini's 3-1 pitch over the left field wall for a solo home run, his 17th, staking the

Fisher Cats to a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.  Patterson's homer tied him with now Triple-A Syracuse Chief Travis Snider for the team lead.  
 
Antonini (0-2) departed with two outs in the fourth, allowing two runs on five hits in 3.2 innings to suffer the loss.  The left-hander walked four and struck out two.
 
Ray (7-5), who struck out five, combined with Daryl Harang and Mike MacDonald on the seven-hit shutout, allowing the Fisher Cats to snap a six-game losing streak.  

MacDonald went the final 1.1 innings to record his second save.
 
The Fisher Cats open a three-game series against the Altoona Curve, Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Friday night at Blair County Ballpark.  New Hampshire sends former Pirates right-hander Marty McLeary (0-0, 5.79) to the mound for the 7:05pm game against Curve right-hander Jared Hughes (2-1, 3.91).  Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
