MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – August 21, 2008 - Tike Redman clubbed a three-run homer and five Tides pitchers combined to allow just five hits as Norfolk cruised to a 7-1 win over the Toledo Mud Hens Thursday night at Harbor Park.

The Mud Hens plated an unearned run in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead, but the Tides responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take control of the contest. After Toledo starter Yorman Bazardo (4-11) retired the first two batters on two pitches, Mike Costanzo worked a walk and Oscar Salazar singled to put runners on first and second. Redman then launched a drive over the right field wall for his third homer of the season, giving the Tides a 3-1 advantage.

Norfolk tacked on three more runs an inning later, as Brandon Fahey and Oscar Salazar each connected on RBI singles, with Fahey scoring on an error by Brent Clevlen.

Each Tides starter collected a hit in the contest, and Salazar, Eider Torres and Chris Roberson each finished with two hits apiece.

The Tides pitching staff turned in an excellent night, as Felix Romero, Craig Anderson (6-8), Fredy Deza, Scott Chiasson and Jim Miller combined to allow just five singles and one walk while striking out 11.

The Tides will look to split the four-game set with Toledo on Friday night, as they wrap up their homestand with a 7:15 contest. Garrett Olson (1-1, 1.85) will make his first start for the Tides since being optioned from Baltimore, and will be opposed by Mud Hens right-hander Virgil Vasquez (9-12, 4.82).
