Oklahoma RedHawks Lose to Iowa Cubs 5-2

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -
HIGHLIGHTS:  The Oklahoma RedHawks lost 5-2 to the Iowa Cubs Thursday evening at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.  Oklahoma held a 2-0 lead after four innings, but allowed five unanswered runs over the final five innings in the loss.
Kevin Richardson hit a two run home run in the third inning to stake Oklahoma and Brian Gordon with the lead.  Gordon excelled over the first four innings, surrendering one hit and walking one while striking out five.  Iowa scored one in the fifth when Bobby Scales scored on a double by Jason Dubois.  The Cubs took control in the six on Felix Pie's two run home run, his ninth of the season.  Iowa starter Jason Stanford pitched six innings and allowed only five hits along the way.  Oklahoma would not manage any hits against the Cubs bullpen over the final three innings, and Iowa added two runs off Wes Littleton in the ninth to close out the scoring.

Gordon (4-5) took the loss despite notching his fourth quality start of the season in 11 chances.  Stanford (3-0) picked up the win, and Kevin Hart pitched the ninth for his fourth save.  Dubois, Pie, and Scales had two hits apiece to pace Iowa.  Nelson Cruz went 1-4 in his first game for Oklahoma since August 1.  Cruz had been on the disabled list with a strained left quad.
