Tacoma Rainiers Beat Portland Beavers 11-1 - AAA, PCL

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com –

PORTLAND, Ore. – Craig Wilson hit his second grand slam of the season and four Tacoma pitchers combined to hold the Portland Beavers to three hits in the Rainiers’ 11-1 victory before 8,986 Saturday night at PGE Park.

Kevin Howard and Shawn Garrett both homered and had three RBIs apiece for the Rainiers (72-62), who have won four of their last five games.

Rich Dorman worked the first three innings before giving way to Denny Stark (2-0), who fanned six and allowed just one hit over three scoreless innings for the win.

Just five batters into the game, Wilson staked the Rainiers to a four-run lead with his bases-loaded blast to right field.

Later, Howard’s fourth home run of the series – a two-run blast in the fourth – upped the lead, while Jon Nelson hit an RBI triple and scored on Howard’s sac fly to make it 8-0 in the sixth.

Portland scored its lone run in the eighth when Matt Antonelli hit an inside-the-park home run, just the fourth in the Beavers’ eight seasons back in the Pacific Coast League.

Wade LeBlanc (10-9) gave up eight runs on six hits and two walks in six innings of work in the loss, his second to Tacoma this season.
