Toledo Mud Hens Drop First Game of Final Home Stand with 6-1 Loss to Richmond Braves

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – After the Mud Hens took a close game from the Norfolk Tides to close the road trip, Toledo returned home to open the last home stand of the season on Saturday. Looking to start a win streak, the Hens sent out RHP Anastacio Martinez (2-6).

Martinez gave up a double in the second to C Corky Miller, who later scored to give Richmond a 1-0 advantage. The visiting Braves kept on rolling though. Miller came back in the fourth inning to belt a solo home run before his team would build an even bigger lead.

Meanwhile, RHP James Parr (4-3) just cruised. He held the Hens to no runs in six innings, but his shut-down performance trascended just the no runs allowed. He held Toledo to only two hits, one to DH Brent Clevlen and the other to 3B Erick Almonte.

Parr worked right along as his offense rallied for a huge inning. 2B Wes Timmons hit a home run to begin a four run fifth inning. Anastacio Martinez lasted 4.2 innings and allowed six runs. He departed by leaving his team with a 6-0 deficit.

Toledo would add one run in the ninth, long after Parr left the game, when 1B Jeff Larish blasted a double to right-center field to score OF Timo Perez. The score would stand 6-1.
