Lexington Legends Extract Revenge on West Virginia Power with 6-4  Victory

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – (APPLEBEE'S PARK - LEXINGTON, KY) Six runs on Sunday served as the Legends' revenge for a Saturday night shutout.

Down by three runs in the middle inning, a scoreless Lexington club turned things around quickly to avoid a third-straight home loss. The Legends kickstarted the game with a four-run fourth inning and Russell Dixon's two-run homer broke a 4-4 tie on the way to a 6-4 win over the division-leading West Virginia Power (41-22).

Lexington's lineup batted around in a wild fourth that saw four Legends scores with two outs. West Virginia reliever Reed Dickert (2-4) stepped into the middle of the rally in the fourth and picked up the loss with three earned runs in the inning. The Power would tie the game in the top of the fifth before Russell Dixon's homerun in the bottom of the frame put the Legends up for good.

Dixon supplied a much-needed punch at the heart of the lineup going two-for-four with three RBI and his third homerun of the season. First baseman Eric Taylor went three-for-five with a run, one of six Legends to record a hit Sunday.

Leandro Cespedes (3-6) stuck around for five-and-two-thirds innings for the win with five strikeouts. Despite three errors from Lexington's defense under his watch, the Legends were able to keep West Virginia close enough for the rally. Reliever Antonio Duran picked up his first save of the season with over three innings of scoreless pitching.

Be sure to check out game three of Lexington's four-game home set with the West Virginia Power tomorrow. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
