SALT LAKE BEES (Class AAA) - Pacific Coast League - Record 79-57, 1st, +5
The Salt Lake Bees pounded out 12 hits and reduced their magic number for clinching the Pacific Northern Division down to three with a 5-2 win over the Portland Beavers (San Diego affiliate). A double by C Bobby Wilson snapped a 2-2 tie to drive home the go-ahead run. SS Brandon Wood had three hits, including a solo home run (his 31st). 3B Freddy Sandoval also had three hits, including two doubles (setting a new franchise doubles record with 44). 1B Kendry Morales extended his hit streak to 18 games. RHP Anthony Ortega improved to 4-0, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. RHP Darren O’Day earned his sixth save.
ARKANSAS TRAVELERS (Class AA) Texas League - Record 24-39, 4th, -13 (1st Half 36-34, T1st)
Despite rallying from a 5-0 deficit, the Arkansas Travelers suffered another 6-5 loss to the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis affiliate). RHP Rafael Rodriguez (5-5) gave up a tiebreaking unearned run in the eighth for the loss. 3B Corey Smith had two hits, including a two-run home run and DH Brian Stavisky added a single and a solo shot.
RANCHO CUCAMONGA QUAKES (A) California League - Record 35-29, 2nd, -3.5 (1st 30-40, 5th)
The
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes suffered a 10-6 loss to the Inland Empire 66ers
(Dodgers affiliate). The Quakes amassed 13 hits with 1B Efren Navarro going 3-for-4 with two RBI. RHP Brian Chambers (1-4) got the loss in relief, giving up four runs on three hits and a walk without recording a walk.

CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS (A) - Midwest League - Record 36-27, 2nd, -3.5 (1st Half 32-36, 5th)
2B Hector Estrella was 4-for-5 to lead an 11-hit attack in the Cedar Rapids Kernels’ 6-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Seattle affiliate). RF Julio Perez added a two-run home run. LHP Trevor Reckling (10-6) allowed just two runs on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts in six innings.
OREM OWLZ (Rookie) - Pioneer League - Record 19-7, 1st, +2.5 (1st Half 25-13, 1st)
The Orem Owlz gave up four runs in the seventh inning of an 8-7 loss to the Casper Ghosts (Colorado affiliate). The Owlz led 4-0 before the bottom of the fifth but the Ghosts scored in the next three innings with RHP Jon Plefka (1-2) getting the loss after allowing four runs in 0.2 innings. DH Luis Jimenez went 4-for-5 with a double and solo home run, breaking the franchise record with his 15th home run of the season. LF Donato Giovanatto added three hits and two RBI
TEMPE ANGELS (Rookie) - Arizona League - Record 14-10, 3rd, -4 (1st Half 21-7, 1st)
The Angels won 2-0 over the Rangers in a game that was called after 6.1 innings due to rain. RHP Kyle Hurst improved to 3-0, throwing 6.1 shutout innings and scattering four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. DH Justin Bass had two hits. The Angels scored a run in the fifth on a wild pitch and a run in the sixth on an error.
DSL ANGELS (Rookie) – Dominican Summer League - Record 47-24, T1st
The Dominican Angels have qualified for the wild card spot in the DSL playoffs.
