Memphis Redbirds Outlast Oklahoma RedHawks 1-0

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Memphis , Tenn. Memphis scratched out just one run to shut out Oklahoma 1-0 Friday night at AutoZone Park .

The Redbirds scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning. Shane Robinson led off the inning with a triple to right-center field and scored one batter later on Brendan Ryan’s sacrifice fly. David Freese led Memphis with three singles.

Memphis starter Blake Hawksworth combined with Mark Worrell and Jason Motte to complete the ‘Birds sixth shutout of the year. Hawksworth earned the win with 6.1 scoreless innings before leaving in the seventh with an injury. The right-hander scattered three hits and fanned six in his fifth win of the year. Motte struck out the side to earn his eighth save of the year. Oklahoma starter Derek Lee took the loss giving up one run on six hits over six innings.

The Redbirds and RedHawks battle tomorrow night with first pitch at 6:05 p.m. Jess Todd gets the ball for the ‘Birds against Oklahoma right-hander Tommy Hunter.
