Greeneville Astros Release 2010 Schedule

GREENEVILLE, TN- The Greeneville Astros have released their 2010 schedule.  The slate features thirty-four home games at Pioneer Park in addition to thirty-four games on the road throughout the Appalachian League beginning in late June and continuing through the end of August.

The Astros will open the season on the road with a three-game set against the Eastern Division Burlington Royals beginning on Tuesday, June 22nd.  Following their trip to Burlington, the Astros will return home to Greeneville for a home-opening three-game series at Pioneer Park against the rival Johnson City Cardinals on Friday, June 25th.

The Astros will then commute to face the Kingsport Mets and Bristol Sox over the next six days before the Mets travel to Greeneville to face the Astros on Sunday, July 4th for the Astros annual Independence Day Celebration.  That will begin a six-game homestand that will conclude with the Pulaski Mariners only trip of the season to Greeneville.

Then, three games in Bluefield will be followed by a nine-game homestand from July 14-22, the Astros longest of the season.  One week later, six more home games will take the Astros into August.

The Astros will only be at home for three of the next eighteen days in August when they face the Elizabethton Twins from August 9-11.

The final homestand of the season is a seven-gamer that includes three games against the defending Appalachian League Champion Danville Braves, and concludes with a single-game against the Kingsport Mets on Saturday, August 28th.

A road trip to Pulaski to face the Mariners from August 29-31 will close the Astros regular season.

The first game of the best of three 2010 Appalachian League Championship Series will take place on Wednesday, September 1st at the home ballpark of the Eastern Division champions. The second and third game would be played in the home stadium of the Western Division champions with game 2 on Thursday, September 2nd and game 3 on Friday, September 3rd if necessary.

Greeneville Astros home games, unless otherwise noted, will start at 7:00pm Monday-Friday, while Saturday and Sunday games will begin at 6:00pm.  Sunday, July 4th will be an exception with the start time scheduled for 7:00pm.

A promotional schedule full of fan favorites as well as brand new promotions will be released at a future date with a list of all the special events that will take place throughout the 2010 season.

The Greeneville Astros are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Houston Astros. For more information on the Astros, visit www.greenevilleastros.com or call (423) 638-0411.
