Round Rock Express Drop 6-3 Game to Iowa Cubs - PCL

Round Rock - Round Rock dropped its opening series of the season to Iowa Sunday afternoon at the Dell Diamond, 3-1, thanks to a 6-3 loss in the finale.
Iowa got on the board in the first inning, thanks to a Sam Fuld single to lead things off. Luis Rivas, Nate Spears and Jake Fox all followed with walks, scoring Fuld. Brad Snyder struck out, and Bobby Scales grounded into a double play to end the inning.

The I-Cubs tacked on another run in the third inning, when Spears scored on a single by Scales.
Round Rock answered in the bottom half of the inning when Mark Saccomanno tripled off the wall in center field, and Josh Muecke and Tommy Manzella scored.
But Iowa blew things open in the seventh inning when Jake Fox hit a grand slam into the visiting bullpen off of reliever Tyler Lumsden to make it 6-2.
The Express managed one more run in the seventh inning when a single by Manzella scored Yordany Ramirez to close the gap to 6-3.
Lost in the shuffle and the poor first inning, was a strong start by Express southpaw Muecke, who despite the trouble, allowed two runs on six hits in six innings of work, earning the no decision.
Walks continue to be a problem for the Express, having issued 29 free passes in the first four games of the season.
Manzella continues to find open space on the field, collecting three hits for the second night in a row, and eight in the last four games.
Round Rock kicks off a new series Monday night against Omaha as the second half of an eight-game home stand. Express right-hander Bud Norris will go up against Royals left-hander Bruce Chen.
