San Antonio Missions IF Craig Cooper Named Padres Organizational Player of the Month

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-SAN ANTONIO – The San Diego Padres announced today that Missions infielder Craig Cooper has been named the Organizational Player of the Month for April 2009. Cooper hit .382 (29-for-76) with a double, a triple, a home run, 10 RBI and a .447 on-base percentage in 20 games during the month. He hit safely in 19 of the 20 games, including nine multi-hit performances, and carried a 15-game hit streak into May which was later snapped at 18 games.

Cooper currently leads the Texas League in hits (43), is second in hitting (.398) and third in on-base percentage (.472). He also leads the Missions in hits, batting, on-base percentage, multi-hit games (13) and slugging percentage (.559). Originally signed by the Padres as a seventh-round selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, Cooper is in his fourth professional season.
