MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-ROUND ROCK – Express starter Josh Muecke was good Sunday afternoon, but Colorado Springs’ Greg Smith was better, leading the Sky Sox (26-16) to a 4-0 win over Round Rock (18-26).

Smith allowed no runs on just one hit with three strikeouts, a walk and a hit batter over 5.0 IP, earning his first win of the season for the Sky Sox.

Round Rock was held to its second-lowest hit total of the year with three hits, and with the result, the fewest hits in consecutive games this season with five over the last 18 innings.

Colorado Springs’ big inning came in the top of the third, and Smith helped his own cause with a single to left field to lead off the frame. Eric Young, Jr., followed with a walk to put runners at first and second, and Jonathan Herrera doubled to left field to bring Smith home and move Young, Jr., to third. Mike McCoy then singled, scoring both runners for a 3-0 lead.

They added a run in the top of the ninth when a double by Young, Jr., allowed Edwin Bellorin to score from third.

The Sky Sox win meant a series loss for the Express, which dropped three of four to Colorado Springs, and extended Round Rock’s current funk. The Express has won just three of its last 12 games.

Round Rock tries to turn things around with a four-game series against Salt Lake that starts Monday at 7:05 p.m. The Express sends RHP Bud Norris to the mound to face the Bees, and Salt Lake will counter with RHP Dan Denham.
