Frederick Keys Win Back-and-Forth Game Over the Kinston Indians 7-5

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-The Frederick Keys had to come from behind twice this afternoon to defeat the Kinston Indains 7-5.

RHP Tim Bascom got the start for the Keys. He had another good outing, but found himself in trouble in the second. With one man down, DH Johnny Drennen worked a walk. He was eventually knocked in on LF Lucas Montero's RBI-single, making it 1-0.

The Keys rallied back in the fourth. Frederick sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs on three hits. With two in scoring position, and nobody out, LF Kraig Binick singled, knocking in a couple runs, and giving the Keys a 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, DH Cleb Joseph stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and delivered a two-run single. The Keys led 4-1.

The K-Tribe pulled to within one in the sixth. With a runner on and nobody out, 1B Nate Recknagel drilled a two-run homer, making it 4-3.

Bascom left the game after the sixth. The right-hander went six innings and allowed three runs, all earned, on six hits. He walked two and struck out a season-high seven batters.

Kinston took the lead in the seventh. With Montero on second and one man out, 2B Cord Phelps hit an RBI-single, tying the game at four. Phelps advanced to second on the throw home. The next batter, SS Ronald Rivas, knocked in Phelps with an RBI-single to give the Indians the lead.

The Lead didn't last long. CF Matt Angle led off the seventh with a bunt single. SS Pedro Florimon and Binick drew back-to-back walks. Joseph came through with an RBI-single to tie the game up at five. With the bases loaded, LF David Cash hit a sac fly to left, scoring Florimon, and giving Frederick the lead.

The Keys tacked on a seventh run in the eighth on an RBI-double by Florimon. RHP Brian Parker got the win, improving his record to 3-0. RHP Chen-Chang Lee took the loss. He's now 2-3. RHP Luis Lebron pitched a perfect ninth to pick up his eighth save of the season.
