Bobby LaFromboise Hurls Gem For Clinton LumberKings In 5-0 Win Over Peoria Chiefs

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Clinton, IA – Left-hander Bobby LaFromboise kept the lefty-loaded lineup of the Peoria Chiefs off-balance all night long, striking out eight batters over a career-high eight innings as the Clinton LumberKings won, 5-0.

LaFromboise (W, 4-1) gave up just four hits and a walk over his eight innings, besting his previous career-high of seven innings. He enjoyed an early lead as the LumberKings came out swinging in the second inning. Mario Martinez and Ogui Diaz each delivered two-out singles off Peoria starter Aaron Shafer to build a 2-0 lead.

After an error by shortstop Ryan Flaherty allowed Scott Savastano to reach in the third, Kris Sanchez belted a towering home run over the Lumber Lounge in right for a 3-0 lead. His fifth home run of the season effectively ended Shafer’s night at 2.1 innings. Shafer (L, 4-3) allowed four runs, two earned on three hits, walked three and struck out three.

Left-hander Jeffrey Beliveau took over for Shafer and got another out in the third before Steve Moss took him yard over the left-center wall. Moss’s third home run this season made it a 5-0 lead.

The Chiefs put together one last gasp in the ninth inning. Ryan Moorer allowed singles to David Macias and Drew Rundle and walked Kyler Burke to load the bases. Cheyne Hann (S, 2) came on with one out, striking out Nelson Perez and getting pinch-hitter Josh Vitters to ground into a game-ending fielder’s choice.

Sanchez extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the home run, finishing 1-for-4 with two RBI. Luis Nunez extended his streak to 13 games with a 1-for-4 game.

The LumberKings (33-27) continue the four-game series with the Peoria Chiefs (30-28) tomorrow night at Alliant Energy Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Listen to the game on AM 1390 KCLN in Clinton or live on the web at www.kcln.com.
