Clinton LumberKings Rout the Beloit Snappers Using Longball

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Beloit, WI –Nate Tenbrink drove home four runs as a close game turned into a rout for the Clinton LumberKings.Tenbrink's sac fly gave the Kings a 3-2 lead, and his three-run homer in the ninth put the game on ice in a 9-2 win over the Beloit Snappers at Pohlman Field.

 

The LumberKings rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie the game in the sixth. Luis Nunezextended his hitting streak to 16 games with a flare single to left, then scored three batters later as former Snapper Steve Mossdrilled a double to left.Nunez again started the rally in the eighth, reaching on a leadoff infield single.With the bases loaded, Nunez was able to tag and score on Tenbrink's sac fly to shallow left-center.

 

Clinton then turned the 3-2 lead into a 9-2 beatdown with a six-run ninth inning against reliever Matt Williams. Maximo Mendez ripped an RBI triple to right-center, Nunez drove him home for his third hit of the day, and Tenbrink unloaded on a Williams' offering for a three-run blast to right-center.

StarterBrett Loringave up both runs for the Snappers over just 4.0 innings.Blake Nation(W, 1-1) did not allow a single baserunner and struck out two over 3.0 innings in relief of Lorin.Stephen Penney(H, 3) pitched an additional 1.1 innings without a runner, andRyan Moorerfinished off the final 0.2 innings.

 

Steve Blevins (L, 2-3) allowed the go-ahead sac fly to Tenbrink over 2.0 innings for Beloit.Their starter Bobby Lanigan also exited early, leaving after 3.1 innings as Moss's comebacker glanced off his foot.Danny Rondon also tossed 2.2 innings, yielding an unearned run on three hits.

 

Tenbrink finished 2-for-3 with his fourth home run and tied a season-high with four RBI.Moss went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in his first trip to Beloit since 2004.Nunez finished with a 3-for-5 game, scoring three times and adding an RBI.
