MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Asheville, NC – The Drive (36-28) fell behind early to the Tourists, and never had the chance to make a comeback as heavy rains in Asheville brought an early conclusion to Tuesday’s game at McCormick Field. After an hour and five minute rain delay, the Tourists (25-40) were awarded a 4-0 shutout.
For the second time in less than a week, the Drive were unable to figure out Asheville’s Ethan Hollingsworth (5-4) who tossed all five innings, scattering four hits. Tim Federowicz recorded on of Greenville’s hits, his 18th double of the season to extend his hit streak to seven games.
The Tourists scored runs in each of the first three innings off Nick Hagadone (0-1), scoring both runs in the top of the first before an out was even recorded. Scott Robinson led off with a double and stole second. After Delta Cleary was hit by a pitch, Jordan Pacheco doubled home the pair.
An inning later, Asheville’s run came after Hagadone retired the first two batters of the inning as Beau Seabury and Robinson laced back-to-back doubles. Ryan Peisel knocked in the Tourists final run in the third with a single following Jimmy Cesario’s double.
The good news for the Drive is that they still remain 1-1/2 games behind the Charleston RiverDogs who suffered a walk-off loss at the hands of the Augusta GreenJackets.
The Drive and Tourists continue their three-game series tomorrow night with first pitch set for 7:15 PM, with the game being televised from McCormick Field on WMYA My 40. Right-hander Stolmy Pimentel (5-3, 2.02 ERA) will toe the rubber for Greenville as Asheville counters with Jonnathan Aristil (0-2, 5.25 ERA)
The Drive return home to Fluor Field on Friday to close out the first half of the regular season with a three-game series versus the Lexington Legends.
