Kane County Cougars Defeat Clinton LumberKings 4-2 - Midwest League

Clinton, IA – Kane County's Grant Desme was a one-man wrecking crew Tuesday night, lifting off for a game-tying two-run homer in the sixth inning and providing a two-run double in the ninth inning as the Cougars sent the Clinton LumberKings to a 4-2 loss at Alliant Energy Field.

The LumberKings had a 2-0 lead heading into the sixth thanks to Scott Savastano.  His RBI groundout plated Terry Serrano in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.  Savastano reached with a leadoff walk in the fourth and scored after a pair of errors by Kane County, including a throw into center field by catcher Juan Nunez.

Starter Kenn Kasparek tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts over 5.0 innings, limiting the Cougars to just two hits and two walks.  He exited with a 2-0 lead.

Left-hander Jose Jimenez walked Steve Kleen to lead off the sixth before serving up the opposite-field blast to Desme.  His eighth home run of the year made it a 2-2 score.

Left-hander Greg Moviel (L, 1-1) gave up a leadoff double to Dusty Napoleon in the ninth before leaving in favor of Ruben Flores.  Flores induced a groundout for the first out of the inning, but hit Kleen with a pitch and gave up Desme's double.

Right-hander Jason Ray (W, 2-0) yielded just a hit and a walk over 2.0 innings for Kane County.  Closer Mickey Storey (S, 5) struck out two in the ninth to finish the game.

Desme finished 4-for-5 with four RBI for Kane County, falling a triple short of the cycle.
