New Orleans Zephyrs Stymied By Memphis Redbirds, 6-4

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Memphis starter Mitchell Boggs pitched seven innings allowing one run and struckout 10 Zephyr hitters in the 6-4 Memphis win at Autozone Park. The Memphis pitching staff finished the contest with 13 strikeouts, a season high for the Zephyrs hitters.
John Raynor led the game off with a double and scored on a Gaby Sanchez single. The Redbirds were silenced by Z’s starter Jarrett Santos for four innings. In the fifth with two outs Boggs drilled a singled to center and started the rally. Following the pitchers hit Jon Jay drove him home and Shane Robinson followed with a hit to score Jay and Memphis took a 2-1 lead. The Redbirds added three more runs in the sixth to grab a 5-1 lead.
The Z’s rallied in the eighth inning scoring three runs but Memphis beat the Zephyrs for the fourth time in five games.
Game Notes: The Z’s activated Gaby Sanchez from the disabled list on Saturday. Sanchez missed a month with a knee injury. New Orleans added catcher Justin Knoedler and released John Purdom.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs continue the four game series in Memphis on Sunday afternoon. The Z’s will start LH John Koronka (3-1, 2.68) against RH Clayton Mortenson (5-3, 3.62). Radio: WIST 690 AM
