New Hampshire Fisher Cats Double Up Reading Phillies 4-2 - EL

Manchester, NH)---Brian Dopirak and Adam Calderone each hit solo home runs in the Fisher Cats' 4-2 win over the Reading Phillies Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Fisher Cats starting pitcher Brandon Magee (3-3) surrendered just three earned runs in six innings to earn the win. Adrian Martin, Danny Farquhar and Bubbie Buzachero combined for three shut-out innings in relief and allowed just one base runner.  Buzachero earned his second save.

Reading opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning.  Quintin Berry walked, advanced to third on a single by Michael Taylor and scored on a single by Brian Stavisky to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  Taylor scored on a single by Gus Milner to make it 2-0.

Bryan Kervin (2-for-3, 2B, 3B) got the Fisher Cats on the board when he tripled to left-center field in the third inning. Kervin then crossed the plate on a sac-fly by Todd Donovan to cut the Phillies lead to 2-1.

The Fisher Cats tied the game 2-2 in the fourth inning when David Cooper (2-for-4, 2B, R) hit a one-out double to left field and then scored on a Cody Haerther (1-for-3, RBI) single off Reading starter and losing pitcher Tyson Brummett (3-6).

Dopirak (1-for-4, HR) broke the tie with his team-leading 12th home run to straightaway centerfield in the sixth inning. Calderone (1-for-4, HR) added an insurance run in the eighth inning with his eighth home run of the season.

The Fisher Cats open a six-game road trip on Tuesday night in Akron.  LHP Luis Perez (4-5, 3.80) starts for New Hampshire against Aeros RHP Josh Tomlin (5-4, 4.75).  Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage begins at 6:45pm with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
