Reno Aces Allow Portland Beavers to Rally in Seventh for 6-3 Loss

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-PORTLAND, Ore.— Luke Carlin hit a two-run home run in the fourth, but a four-run seventh inning for Portland lifted the Beavers to a 6-3 victory over the Reno Aces Sunday afternoon at PGE Park.

Carlin’s two-run blast in the fourth gave Reno a 2-1 run lead, but that advantage would be short-lived. Portland tied the score with a run in the home half of the fourth, then pushed across four runs in the seventh to take a lead it would not relinquish. The Aces tried to crawl back with a run in the eighth on an RBI single for Alex Romero, followed by a run in the ninth when Bryan Byrne skipped home on a wild pitch. That would be, though, as close as the Aces would get.

Reno starter Hector Ambriz (1-4) took the loss, working six-plus innings and allowing five runs on nine hits. Ambriz walked one and struck out eight, tying a season-high for an Aces pitcher. Travis Blackley came on in relief and surrendered a run on two hits with four Ks over two innings of work.

Portland starter Josh Banks (4-3) lasted seven frames in the winning effort, scattering two runs on four hits. Banks walked two and punched out five. Eulogio De La Cruz came on in the ninth to earn his second save.

At the dish for Reno, seven of nine batters in the starting lineup picked up a hit.

The series continues Monday night at PGE Park. The Aces will turn to RHP Yusmeiro Petit (0-0, No ERA), who will be making a Major League rehabilitation start for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Beavers are set to counter with LHP Wade LeBlanc (1-3, 4.29 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.
