Jacksonville Suns Fall to the Montgomery Biscuits in 5-1 Loss
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 01:05AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Jacksonville, Fla. – Heath Rollins allowed one run and seven hits over eight strong innings while the Montgomery Biscuits (38-41, 5-4) offense scored early in support for a 5-1 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (41-38, 6 -3) in front of 5,213 Tuesday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Rollins (7-6) picked up the victory, giving up only a first inning run while scattering four hits outside of the first inning. Rollins struck out five without surrendering a walk. Brad Stone (1-1) fell in the loss for the Suns in a three inning emergency start, giving up three runs and seven hits. Stone made the start in place of the suspended Aaron Thompson.
Montgomery and Jacksonville traded first inning runs, as the Biscuits scored on a two-out triple from Fernando Cortez for a 1-0 score. The Suns countered with a run in the bottom of the inning on a fielder’s choice from Scott Cousins for a 1-1 deadlock.

The Biscuits added a second inning run on a fielder’s choice from Desmond Jennings for a 2-1 lead. In the third inning Matt Fields belted a double to right-centerfield to drive in Cortez for a 3-1 Montgomery lead.
Montgomery finished the scoring in the sixth inning when a Brandon Chaves single scored Nevin Ashley and Jason Bowers for a 5-1 score. The runs were charged to reliever Garrett Parcell while the hit came against southpaw Jay Voss.
