Carolina Mudcats Lose 10-6 To Chattanooga Lookouts

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Zebulon, NC- The Carolina Mudcats fell 10-6 to the Chattanooga Lookouts in a homer-filled contest Thursday night at Five County Stadium, dealing the Mudcats their third straight defeat.

Chattanooga starter Jesus Castillo delivered a quality start for the Lookouts, yielding only one run over seven innings. Mudcat hitters managed only four hits and a walk against Castillo (W, 5-7).

Juan Francisco put the Mudcats on the board in the 7th, belting a solo-homer over the right field wall. After Shaun Cumberland scored on a wild pitch, Todd Frazier drilled a solo shot of his own, taking Jesus Rodriguez off the scoreboard in the 8th. Shaun Cumberland and Logan Parker each had two hits for Carolina.

Carolina starter Matthew Klinker (L, 3-1) gave up three home runs, accounting for all but one of the five earned runs he allowed in seven innings pitched. Reliever Sean Watson allowed a 3-run home run to Tommy Giles in his 2/3 of an inning in the eighth. Jerry Gil threw the final 1.1 innings for the Mudcats, surrendering an earned run. James Tomlin scored an unearned run in the 9th after a Juan Francisco throwing error.

The Chattanooga Lookouts aim to clinch a series victory in Game 3 of the series Friday night at 7:15 PM at Five County Stadium. Lefty Camilo Vazquez (2-1, 4.85) is scheduled to start for the Mudcats against fellow southpaw James Adkins (3-6, 5.11) of the Lookouts.
